What is Music?
Music is a capitulation of what the listener desires, just as a short story creates a dissonance that the reader needs to be fixed, regardless of control, or understanding. Music starts with a problem, or a harmonic melody, that needs to be resolved. Like every good book, music must have a beginning middle and end, otherwise the listener will not feel like something has been achieved, within themselves.
To most music isn’t a physical thing as much as it is an emotional thing. It creates something within ourselves and often takes hold of a person. It enables them to feel on a metaphysically level, through the use of tonally and percussion. It becomes pleasing to the ears, when on a deeper level it is pleasing to the brain. Not everyone experiences music the same way though. For some it is a form of escapism. Where they can just listen to a piece of music and just get lost in it. They lose touch with the real world for a little while making an euphoric experience. For others is it meticulous and grounding. It makes the world more physical in that the music comes out and touches them.
No matter how the music effects a person, it is abundantly clear that it effects everyone in one way or another. It doesn’t matter a person’s race, gender, religion, or sexuality. It reaches across all languages and regions. Distant worlds are connected through simple rhythms and tones.
